Method
How we score.
Plain about what the numbers are, and what they aren't.
The scores are indicative
We compute every grade with our own implementation of the 2023 Nutri-Score algorithms published by Santé publique France: the general-foods algorithm for foods and the beverages algorithm for drinks and milk drinks. The letters on this site are not an official Nutri-Score label, which a manufacturer registers to use on pack.
What "typical" means
For each category we use indicative values built from the published labels of the category's leading products, per 100 g or 100 ml as sold. They describe the category, not any single brand.
What "FCUK SUGAR" means
FCUK SUGAR values are development targets for each formulation. They are confirmed by accredited lab analysis before any product is sold or any claim goes on pack.
Assumptions we made
- Beverages: any non-sugar sweetener adds the 4-point penalty in the 2023 beverage algorithm. That caps every sweetened drink at B. Only water can score A.
- Foods: protein points are not counted when negative points are 11 or more, as the algorithm specifies.
- Foods are scored as sold. Crushes, syrups and condensed milk are scored as toppings and bases, not diluted.
- Serves are typical portions for the format and are listed on each product page.
India's front-of-pack rules
FSSAI has proposed mandatory front-of-pack warnings for packaged foods high in sugar, fat or salt. The proposal has not been notified as of October 2026. We'll update this page when it is.
